: Windmill pump is used to pump sea water to saltpans. They are powered by wind and their wings are made from old sails. Currently there are only two working windmill pumps in Secovlje saltpans, while in past there were as many as 12 windmill pumps operating in Secovlje saltpans. Secovlje saltpans are located on near Slovenian-Croatian border and are no more then few 100 meters away from small seaside village Secovlje, Slovenia. Nowadays two third of saltpans are protected as Landscape park. Part of old saltpans is renovated and is used to demonstrate old way of producing salt.
